Total Altarpiece, Retabel, carved out of lindenwood, anonymous, Market Church of St. George, 1480, owned by the congregation: Evangelisch-Lutherische Marktkirchengemeinde,  Photo Jutta Brudern, Braunschweig   (The man with the spectacles is Jacob from the Old Testament, where he flees from his brother. At night he dreams of a ladder. Angels are climbing up and down and God speaks to him. Genesis 28, 10-15. Look at Jacob and you will find that his eyes are closed, so the glasses are a symbol that he can see in his sleep)
